Perthyre Year:2 YR the Duke of Devonshire’s headA bittersweet Welsh cider apple that can also be used for cooking. Medium round to conical fruit with waxy green skin and some pink blush. White pale green flesh with a gentle pear like flavour. Vigorous and spreading, fully flowering by the second week of May. Ripens late October. Found on Perthyre Farm in Rockfield, Monmouthshire, in the late 1920s. A mild well balanced bittersweet possibly making a light single variety.
