Many theoretical research works have dealt with the topic of environment, its properties and relationships with different aspects of human’s life. Workplaces are important parts of the built environment and their design affects not only how people feel, but also their work performance and overall satisfaction regarding their work environment.
The research attempts to identify the significance of relationship between “the physical aspect of interior spaces” to achieve maximum Productivity with attention to “psychological state of the employees”. Physical aspects refer to ambience, and the psychological perceptions refer to the mental state of being. By establishing a relationship between these two variables the design process would be more effective as the preferences of the clients will be known to the designers well in advance.
The Psychology of Architecture concerns with the physical and non-physical conditions of the interior spaces. It investigates the relationship between the environmental physical parameters and their influences on the psychological conditions of the users, with the purpose of improving the quality of living spaces.
Through the study of Psychology in the office interior design the performance and Productivity inside the spaces and the satisfaction of the employees are improved.
The present research investigated parameters involved with Architecture Psychology in the office interior, with respect to Personality types in Psychological domain and Colour, Lighting and Form in Architectural scope, in order to Productivity enhancement. The dimensions of the research model include Personality types, Architectural elements (Colour, Lighting and Form) and Productivity which further broken down to individual constructs. The purpose of constructing this model was to identify key variables that are associated with the Architectural Psychology in the office interior. This model, therefore, investigates the success in the office interior in case of Productivity improvement, with the application of employees’ preferences and choices.
